Sometimes a class isn’t the right fit. Maybe you’re stuck on one technique, you just brought home a new machine and want to actually use it, or you’d rather not learn in a group. A private lesson at Glory Bee’s Sewing Center is one hour of one-on-one time with an instructor, focused entirely on you.
Who it’s for
Private lessons are for adults 18 and over. We no longer offer classes or lessons for children or teens.
What it costs
$75 per hour, taught in our store in Fallston. Payment is taken at the store. Private lessons are not sold online, so there’s nothing to add to a cart: give us a call and we’ll set it up.
How to schedule one
- Call the store at 443-981-3182. Tell us what you’d like to work on and what machine you’ll be using.
- We match you with an instructor and pick a time. Lessons are scheduled around the store’s class calendar, so the more flexible you can be, the sooner we can usually get you in.
- Come in for your hour. Bring your machine, its manual and accessories, and any project or materials you want to work on. If you’re not sure what to bring, ask when you call.
- Pay at the store on the day of your lesson.
What we can cover
- Getting started on a brand new machine, including the features people usually never touch
- A specific technique you’re stuck on, such as buttonholes, zippers, binding, or free-motion work
- Machine embroidery basics: hooping, stabilizers, and sending a design to the machine
- Serger threading and settings
- Troubleshooting a project that isn’t going the way you expected
- Working through a pattern at your own pace with someone right there
You’re welcome to bring your own project, or ask us to build the hour around a skill you want to learn.
Machines we teach on
Our instructors provide machine-specific instruction on Brother, Janome, and Elna machines. If you sew on a different brand, we can still help with general sewing, quilting, and embroidery technique, we just can’t walk you through that machine’s own menus and settings. Give us a call and we’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit before you book.
